Our Story
Fundamentals Kids Foundation is a 501(3)(c) tax-exempt non-profit corporation. It was founded by 3 members of the community who noticed a lack of medically necessary pediatric therapy in Southern Oklahoma. Many families do not have the financial resources or medical insurance to pay for necessary services or equipment. Therapy services are designed to help them reach goals for independence in life.
Working in cooperation with Fundamentals Pediatric Therapy Center, our mission is assist economically disadvantaged people with disabilities through providing Hippotherapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Aquatic Therapy, Feeding Therapy, ABA Therapy and AAC devices at no or low cost.
Hippotherapy is used by Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Physical Therapist and is an evidence-based practice. This therapy uses equine movement as a therapy tool to engage sensory, neuromotor and cognitive systems to promote functional outcomes. The cost to provide 1 hour of this effective evidence based therapy is 300.00, which makes cost a huge barrier for many families in need. AAC device also known as augmentative or alternative communication device are high tech devices used to help aid in communication. The cost of a communication device can range from 800.00-16,000.00, which also makes cost a barrier to families in need.
We rely heavily on financial support from our community by way of donations to keep cost low for families and create scholarships for children with severely limited resources.
